Bestar is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of ready-to-assemble home office and home entertainment furniture. Its head office and manufacturing facility are located in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, Canada. The company started by making the first ready-to-assemble furniture in Canada — a small bookcase to hold encyclopedias. The encyclopedias were sold door-to-door. When a customer purchased a set, the bookcase was given as a free gift!
Over the years, Bestar developed the habit of being first in many aspects of its business. In 1991, Bestar was the first company in the ready-to-assemble (RTA) industry to introduce thermofused melamine work surfaces, an industry standard for durability.
Today Bestar offers a great selection of office and home entertainment furniture including TV stands, home entertainment centers, and modular desk systems.
We do not require an adult signature for deliveries, but please note that the decision to leave your package without a signature is at the discretion of the delivery person. If you want an item left at your doorstep, the best thing to do is leave a note on your door asking the driver to leave your package with "No Signature Required." Be sure to include your name and tracking number on the note.

Very happy with this file cabinet! The instructions were surprisingly easy to understand, the parts were all there, nothing was flimsy. It went together very well, altho it was a bit time consuming (we could do a second one in a fraction of the time, tho!) Made an amazing difference in our cluttered office!
Service and delivery comments:
Was verrry skeptical...I don't order online much, and normally only from well-known companies. I never heard of this website or the manufacturer. Days (weeks?) after I clicked "purchase", the product wasn't ready to ship even tho it said "available' when I ordered. However, the company stayed in contact with me over email, and the cabinet did finally appear on my doorstep. It did arrive in good condition.

I bought it because it was locking, wood finish [...] as well as the best one I could find anywhere with those specs. Pretty good, but difficult instructions and cardboard backing kind of defeats the locking ability!

I did a lot of online and in-store shopping before settling on this file cabinet. My criteria were: 1) locking [both drawers] and 2) light wood--shockingly, these were hard criteria to fill. As other reviewers have noted, it's a bit of a bear to assemble. There are many parts and the instructions are complex. That said, they were by far the best furniture assembly instructions I've ever come across. It took me all afternoon to assemble (~5 hours) and to my horror, when I was putting in the drawers, the top drawer sat too low and scraped against the bottom drawer. After doing some troubleshooting, we realized that the pre-drilled holes for the metal runners had been drilled too high. So we re-drilled, re-installed and voila, it worked. It's a beautiful piece of furniture but I think they should offer a pre-assembled version. I would have happily paid another $50 to have it arrive ready to use.
