We also use our small office/den as a guest room. I bought two of the filing cabinets and placed them on either side of a small sleeper sofa so that they could also serve as nightstands. There is more than enough top surface space for lamps, clocks and even a plant. It really solved our space problem and the assistance I got with putting it together was very helpful since this was the first time I'd ever done this. The only thing I don't like is that there are no wheel locks to prevent movement when you open drawers.
